Molecular nano-dynamics.

As a general research field unifying all disciplines within our group we are involved in the study of reaction dynamics at interfaces and in nano-scale domains. For example the STM is a tool for inducing and observing chemical reactions on sub-nano-scale to nano-scale. Further light emission can be induced from nano-scale regions.
Phase separation has been shown to begin with the formation of phase boundaries having dimensions of tens of nano-meters. Chemical reactions induced in such small domains have unique outcomes.
Pulsed x-ray can provide a method for materials processing at shorter scales than with convensional light processing, because the wavelength of x-rays is much smaller than for UV-visible light.
FRET is being used to observe chemical reactions with sub-micrometer space resolution.
